Pakenham Church News
Congratulations to Kate and Barclay ("Tom") Parker, formerly
of Manor Garth, Pakenham and now living in Walsham-le-Willows on
the occasion of their Diamond Wedding Anniversary which they celebrated
on 22nd August. Kate and Tom who lived in Pakenham for a number of
years were very involved in village and parish life and we wish them
all the best.
Re-ordering of St. Mary's Church
The building work on the church is scheduled to commence on Monday
30th September. Follow a period of approximately six months disruption,
we are looking forward to having some improved facilities which will
be of benefit to the whole community, as well as those who regularly
use the church. Let us pray for some good weather so that once it
commences, the project will run smoothly.
Pakenham W.I.
In September we were treated to a feast of colour and skill as J.
Meakin showed us her embroidered pictures, made over several years.
Never had we seen such a riot of colour and such skilled embroidery.
She showed us how to set about making these masterpieces and no doubt,
some of us will "have a go" but the craftmanship we were
seeing can only be acquired over years with much inspiration and
enthusiasm.
In the Village Hall on 10th October we look forward to our annual
lunch when there will be a competition to choose the most attractive
table decoration. This will be followed by a talk on "The work
of Suffolk Acre".
Trips and visits are always being arranged, so if you are looking
for an interesting programme and good fellowship you need look no
further that our branch of the W.I. Come and find out for yourself
- 2.30pm on the second Thursday of each month, to be held in the
Pavilion whilst there is no village hall.
