Pakenham Parish Council Minutes - 16th August 2006

Meeting of

PAKENHAM PARISH COUNCIL

16 August 2006 in Pakenham Village Hall

PRESENT: Cllr J Mangnall, Cllr H Painter, Cllr R Griffin, Cllr L Patterson, Cllr M Sargent, Mrs M Gardiner (clerk).

1 - APOLOGIES: none.

2 - DECLARATION OF INTERESTS: none declared.

3 - PUBLIC FORUM: no public were present.

The Chairman convened the meeting.

4 - PLANNING APPLICATIONS:

SE/06/2121 - Mr R Jackson. Paltry Farm, Brand Road. Gt Barton.
Erection of single storey extension to accommodate swimming pool.
Objection: on the grounds that it appears inappropriate in a rural area and would be an extremely large addition to this house. If it should be approved, we would ask that very strict landscaping conditions be applied to effectively mask it from the road.

SE/06/2169 - Mrs Hood. 12 The Owell.
Erection of a single storey garage.
No objections.

TP065/1980/7 - Mr Shelbourne. Mulberry House, Church Hill.
Reduce crown of 4 lime trees and 2 evergreen oaks and fell 1 sycamore.

SE/06/2229 - Mr Shelbourne. Mulberry House, Church Hill.
Erection of detached double garage.
Objection: We feel that the character and style of the proposed building is inappropriate and incongruous with existing house. The position of the proposed garage in front of the house is even more inappropriate and incongruous.

SE/06/1976 - Mr & Mrs P E Ivory - Benricke, Grimstone End
Amended plans & supporting letter - Erection of dwelling and cartlodge/garage (following demolition of existing cottage).
Objections: not happy with proportions of the house. The first floor dormer windows on the front elevation are too wide, as are the ground floor windows. The front door should be concentric with the pitch of the porch. Both the front porch and the rear extension are tucked tight to dormer windows. Why is there a Velux window on back elevation?. We suggest that the original pantiles are used on the roof and that the brick plinth is constructed from reclaimed bricks.

Felling of tree within Pakenham Conservation Area. - a copy of a letter sent by St Edmundsbury BC to the possible owner of the land, was read.

SE/05/01809 - Brookfield, The Street.
Front boundary wall had been inspected by the Enforcement Officer, who could not identify a breach of planning control. It was suggested that a member of the Planning Committee be invited to visit the village, to try to ensure that this sort of thing does not happen again.

The meeting closed at 9.00pm.
