Pakenham WI

10th December 2009 - Christmas Meeting
We start the meeting with at least one glass of mulled wine to get everyone into the spirit of the season.
Our first guest is Luke Wheeler from Macmillan, who will be joining us to express the charities thanks for our contribution to The Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning. This was The Pakenham Memories Afternoon organised by Margaret Tipple. We will be presenting an extra cheque for £50 donated by Barclays Bank as an apology for a banking error when processing the original sum of £504.90.
The speaker for the evening is Emma Paines from Battery Hen Rescue who may bring some of her birds along!!! One has visions of 'scantily clad birds flying round the village hall'.
Refreshments of Christmas fare and more mulled wine washed down with tea and coffee will be followed by the surprise of the evening, Father Christmas accompanied by his fairy helpers suitably attired in pink frilly dresses, pink wigs, wands and wings. They will distribute presents to all our members and guests. Look out for photographs of Max, Christopher and Nigel in their splendid attire.

14th January 2010 - My War In Afghanistan.
The guest speaker will be a member of the armed forces telling their story of a six month tour of duty in war torn Afghanistan. Everyone is welcome to join us for this topical evening - all proceeds will go to Help the Heroes.

The institute have agreed to perform a Fashion Show in 2010 - this is a massive fund raising event utilising a vast range of new and nearly new designer clothes. The money raised will go to at least one charity to benefit residents in and around our own community, the date, venue and charities have still to be decided. Our partners for the event will be Gavin Ashley, West Suffolk College and Chris Clarke from The BBC.

Pakenham WI would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you all for your frendship and support in 2009.
