DO: .. be observant and aware – notice the odd, the strange or unusual .. report what you notice to the police immediately .. lock your cars if you are not in them or beside them .. Postcode, UV mark, photograph and record details of all your valuables .. get to know who your neighbours are .. look after their interests when they go away – push mail through the letterbox properly, put their bin out for collection (put something in it if its empty) .. tell someone where you are going when you go out
DON'T: .. let strangers into your house .. fall for special offers that seem too good to be true (they probably are!) .. leave doors and windows open or unlocked when you can’t watch them .. leave valuables visible to the casual observer – particularly keys and cash - in the house or the car .. ever leave the car keys in the ignition of an unattended car – no matter how briefly .. give your personal details to casual enquirers
