Pakenham WI News - April 2015

Pakenham WI

It has been a busy and most enjoyable month for Pakenham WI.

March 18th 2015 - The Chocolate Lady visit
I will leave you all to imagine what a brilliant evening we had, learning all about which chocolate to buy, how to make our own chocolates, testing numerous types of chocolate and the delicious sweets made by Julie our host for the evening. We were then invited to buy all the wonderful goods on sale in the gift shop.  We had an un-eventual journey, meaning we didn’t get lost in bound or out bound and no one was sick outbound.

March 25th 2015 - The Full Monty
Another brilliant unforgettable evening out. The most tasteful and enjoyable stage show I have seen for a long time, with recognisable TV stars playing the major parts. And yes they did do the FULL MONTY at the end of the show sadly our view was blocked at the critical moment by a blaze of spectacular lighting. Thanks to all those who joined us for the evening we so enjoyed your company

April 9th 2015 - My South Africa project 2014
Alice IngallsAlice IngallsThe delightful young lady Alice Ingalls returned to join us for the evening to tell of her amazing scouting project to South Africa last year. We felt very much part of the adventure having been briefed by Alice last June. It was wonderful to hear of her exploits and dreams for a future in helping the young people in a far off land who despite having so little were so up beat and positive. Well done Alice, a quite remarkable young lady.

Sal gave a detailed and enjoyable delegates report of the recent West Suffolk AGM, thank you Sal.
The evening’s refreshments were provided by Celia and Diane, thank you girls.
Thanks must also go to IT whiz kid Alan Taylor who worked his last minute magic on our lap top projector to provide Alice with illustrations for her talk.

Coming up:-

We have to approve this years resolution on NHS Continual Care, Kay and Helen have very kindly agreed to brief members on the WI mandate.
Our friendly local Ixworth butcher is joining us for the evening to advise on everything meat. What cuts to choose, from what and how to cook for the best results and taste.

June 2nd 2015 The River Cottage Garden Party
This event is free to all members who have not been lucky enough to attend the Buckingham Palace Garden Party. A selection of various cakes and other tea time delights will be served washed down by the finest teas and champagne. The event is just a good excuse for a splendid social event with lots of girlie chat and fun. Hats and smart dresses are essential.
