FEBRUARY 13TH 2018 – KENSINGTON PALACE TRIP
It was a cold wet February day when a party of ladies and one dog boarded one of Perry's coaches to head south to the capital. After a three hour rather painful journey we arrived at the rear entrance to Kensington Palace to find it closed due to building works. After a very unpleasant walk over a wet, freezing cold and windy park our intrepid party arrived intact but very bedraggled. A cup of hot coffee in the café soon revived us and we spent a pleasant hour and half sampling the delights of K.P. and Diana's dress collection. After another visit to the café for more warm sustenance we headed off back across the wet and windy park to find Adrian and the coach, and headed off to the Wembley designer centre for the now obligatory Pakenham WI trip shop. After two hours of retail therapy and more refreshments a slightly weary party of girls and one perfectly behaved dog headed home.

MARCH 8TH 2018 – THE POLDARK OPEN EVENING
Only one, no, two words can truly describe this evening, ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. I welcomed a packed hall of members and guests and started off the proceedings with The Tracy Speilberg Martin Annual Slide Show. Truly remarkable Tracy, thank you. To a back drop of the Poldark scene and haunting music one star was followed by another, this time Tom York. A totally fabulous young man, so genuine and engaging the entire audience feel madly in love with him. For over an hour he told the story of his acting life and his continuing experiences on the BBC series. With his help I presented birthday posies to 3 very lucky girls, then auctioned off the Poldark memorabilia straight from the film studios. My thanks to all for a truly memorable evening, the two stars of the night Tracy and Tom, Badwell Ash and Great Ashfield WI, the brilliant tea girls, the cake bakers and my superb members for their team work and support.

APRIL 4TH 2018 – THE TIPTREE INVITATION VISIT
Tip tree was one of the firms who sponsored and shipped jam on our epic trip to Texas 8 years ago. We have finally been able to accept the invitation from the company directors to spend a day at the firm. Twenty-five of us and one dog have an exclusive factory tour followed by lunch in the boardroom with the directors. Then we are touring the farms, museum and gift shop. Then we are bound for the Designer shopping outlet at Freeport for the obligatory shop. Another wonderful day to look forward to.

APRIL 12TH 2018 – THE WORK AND HISTORY OF THE WRVS
We look forward to a fascinating insight into the work of this charity from its inception in World War 1 to the modern day.

APRIL 19TH 2018 – BEAUTIFUL NIGHT OUT
We journey to the Ipswich Regent for the evening to see and hear the London production of this Carole King musical. Another busy and interesting month in the life of Pakenham WI. It is not where we go or what we do that makes life so special, but the wonderful girls we do it with that makes it so extra special. My grateful thanks to all.
