Pakenham WI News - June 2023

JUNE 8th - SARS
27 members and one guest came to our meeting.  Our speaker - Amanda Sutherland was unwell and SARS very kindly came at very short notice. 

Andy Mason had been a GP at Woolpit surgery and joined Suffolk Search and Rescue.   There is no Government funding and no-one is paid and obviously training and fitting out the ambulances is very expensive and they rely on donations, giving talks and selling their products.  The area covers Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

We are lucky to have 3 defibrillators in Pakenham and he explained how many lives had been saved by using them as quickly as possible – even by minutes.

Andy showed slides and explained and covered the subject so brilliantly and passionately and made our WI more determined to have first aid and defib training.
