Saturday 28th September 2024 - Coffee Morning
20240928-WI Coffee MorningWe held a very successful Coffee Morning in aid of St Nicholas Hospice and raised £735.00.  Tables of cakes and savouries plus tea and coffee. The hall was full, lots of chatting and people mixing.  A local group of bikers asked if they could come for refreshments and arrived in 3 groups.  Our raffle table was full of lovely, donated gifts.

Thanks to our WI members and Pakenham Villagers for making cakes, donating raffle prizes, setting up/clearing and supporting our coffee morning on Sat 28th September. £735.00 was raised and donated to St Nicholas Hospice; they were delighted.

Thursday 3rd October 2024 - Burghley House
The following week, 24 of us enjoyed a great day out at Burghley House, going round the gardens and having a tour of the house. Two great events with beautiful weather.

After our talk from Gatehouse Food Bank last month, members brought tins, jars etc which have been donated to the Food Bank.

Thursday 10th October 2024 - Martin Roberts, a Prison Dog Handler
Martin Roberts works as a Prison Dog Warden.  He has 2 dogs: labrador Finnigan and spaniel Eddie. There are 32 handlers (2 dogs each) covering 10 prisons.  The dogs search for drugs etc. They retire at 8 years old. Martin set up stands holding clothes. Finnigan entered, given signal to begin and searched the clothing.  He successfully found a hidden item.   Then WI members volunteered and were searched by Eddie.  A very interesting and fun evening.
