Pakenham WI News - June 2025

Pakenham WI

Thursday 12th June 2025
Bury St Edmunds is one of the country’s foremost floral towns. Chris Wiley has been organising Bury In Bloom for some time and his enthusiasm is great i.e. gardening for all (e.g. schools, residents, nursing homes, community etc.), decorating the town with hanging baskets, troughs, flowerbeds and sculptures on roundabouts (how do you get many bags of soil from lorries on to a roundabout with traffic?!). Chris also talked about environmental issues, biodiversity and sustainability.
Chris explained Pride in My Street will encourage everyone to care for their street e.g. add planters, litter picking, sign cleaning etc. A chance to win and share a prize.
A brilliant talk, thank you Chris.
