Pakenham WI News - July 2025

A lovely summer’s evening, chairs, tables and gazebos in Kate’s beautiful garden; this was the background to our annual summer garden party.   Add to this wine and delicious food e.g. salmon, quiches, salads, cheeses and sumptuous desserts and, of course, strawberries.  28 ladies enjoyed chatting and moving between tables.  We held our raffle and there was also a competition to name plants and win a prize.  A very big thank you to Kate, Karen and the others who organised it.

Our next WI meeting is on Thursday 14th August at 7.30pm in Pakenham Village Hall.  Wendy Smith has recently retired after 40 years as a Chair Umpire and Line Judge at Wimbledon.  She will come and tell us her story which includes officiating at the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Doors open at 7pm to enable members to chat.  Meeting notices then our speaker, followed by drawing the raffle and refreshments.  Do come and join us.

Our future events:
Thursday 7th August – we look forward to visiting the Hindu Temple in Neasden.
Saturday 13th September – Coffee morning to raise funds for St Nicholas Hospice.
