13th November 2025
This month our speaker was Lucy Lewis, the first female bomb disposal officer. She talked vividly about life at Sandhurst, where she was the only woman on her course and the training and etiquette needed to survive. Her talk was filled with humour and sharp insight. Lucy later served eight years in the Royal Military Police and as a staff officer in the Ministry of Defence. She then became Cambridge University’s first Woman Marshal in its 809 year history. She also led joint mountain expeditions to Ecuador, Iceland and Sardinia too. A truly amazing lady and a wonderful speaker.
Andrea Davey recently asked if we would fill shoe boxes and donate items as a vehicle is shortly going to the Ukraine. Our members were very generous and items have now been collected. Many thanks to Andrea for organising this and our members for their kind donations.
Our next meeting is on Thursday 11th December in the Village Hall. Time to relax, chat and enjoy a delicious Christmas Supper.
Thursday 8th January will be our Annual Quiz. Doors open at 7pm and the meeting starts at 7.30pm. There will be refreshments and also opportunity to mix and chat.
Speakers and subjects for 2026 include: witchcraft, original afternoon tea, female firefighter and wine.
Our ‘Ladies who Lunch’ starts again in January. We are planning a Jumble Sale in the spring of 2026.
Do come and join us.
