PAKENHAM PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of the meeting held on MONDAY 15th MAY 2000
Pakenham Village Hall
(following the Annual Parish Meeting)

Present: Cllr. D. Dorling Chairman; Cllr. B. Chester; Cllr. H. Painter; Cllr. A. Cox; Cllr. P. Smith; Cllr. L. Couper; Mrs. V. White, Borough Councillor, Mrs. P. Griffiths, Clerk.

APOLOGIES: Apologies were received from Mrs. J. Mangnall.

DECLARATION OF ACCEPTANCE OF OFFICE:-
The Chairman signed the declaration of acceptance of office.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS:-
Councillor Painter proposed that the officers remain as at present constituted. Councillor Chester seconded this proposal and it was unanimously agreed.

RE-APPOINTMENT OF CLERK:-
It was confirmed that the Clerk be re-appointed.

MINUTES:-
The minutes of the meeting held on 17th April 2000 were signed as a true record.

MATTERS ARISING:-

i) Parking in the Street. A reply had been received from Mr. Nunn stating that he did not think that the situation warranted a formal parking restriction. The budget for providing waiting restrictions was limited and only the very worst sites received attention.

ii) Employment of street cleaner. Councillor Painter undertook to ascertain the current regulations governing employment.

iii) Web sites. Councillor Smith said he had been in contact with the NALC information officer and Suffolk County Council provide web facilities for any village that wishes to use them.

FINANCE:-

The following cheques were approved for payment:-
597 Street cleaner, wages for May £86.67
598 Cornhill Insurance, annual premium £184.18
599 Clerk, wages for May £111.45
600 Suffolk ACRE annual subscription £86.67
601 Clerical expenses, 17.04.00 – 15.05.00 £22.78
602 Suffolk Accident Rescue Services donation £50.00
603 Mr. D. Thrower, inserting posts at Church Green £210.00
604 Windmill prints, balance of cost of information sign £243.88

ANY OTHER BUSINESS:-
It was brought to the attention of the parish council that there were potholes in Queach Road and Mill Road that needed repair. The Clerk was asked to write to Mr. Nunn and inform him of the situation.

DATE OF NEXT MEETING: The date of the next meeting was confirmed as 26th June 2000.
