Betty Peck as she was known was the eldest cfaughter of William and Florence Peck who lived at Mill Road Pakenham. Betty had a brother Gerald who died some years previously and she leaves a sister Joan.
Betty was a very striking lady in as much as she was tall. Betty's father worked as a bakers roundsman at Hardy's Bakery in Pakenham street and it is very possible that Betty would have assisted her dad on busy days such as Christmas and Easter.
She would have known people such as Ted Watts the baker and Connie Gray who worked in the shop. Her dad was a local Methodist preacher and worshipped at the Chapel at Grimstone End where the burial ground can be found today and of course where Betty will be laid to rest.
Betty with her brother and sister would attend the Chapel there and follow their father whilst he travelled around the area. Betty had a good strong singing voice and later and for many years was a member of the choir at St. Marys Church Pakenham. Betty worked at Farrows Bakery in Ixworth for several years and later the Farmers Club in Bury St Edmunds. Betty took early retirement through ill health.
Betty died in the home at Priors Mead inThetford, Condolences to her sister Joan
