Forty years ago Derek Wales was perhaps the fulcrum of
entertainment and good things in the village of Pakenham, particularly for the
young.
Derek who worked in insurance was a salesman in this area for Prudential,
was a very popular man with his wife Pauline and sons Derek and Jonathon.
Derek and Pauline moved from their house in the street to one of the new
houses between the old Post office and Suffolk Agricultural Centre and during
that time opened a car and machine business in Hunston before he moved
away after Pauline's death.
